MIFFLINBURG – A woman is out over $15,000 after falling victim to an scam. Milton state police say the incident was reported February 18 in Lewis Township, Union County. Troopers say the victim received an email indicating there was a problem with her Amazon account and the person was pretending to be an Amazon technical support member.
He asked the woman to buy $15,750 in assorted gift cards and give him the validation numbers from them. The thief said giving him that information would release her bank accounts ‘from the dark web.’ The woman complied and is out the money. Troopers are investigating.
