Pulled over for a minor traffic violation in Homewood? You just might receive a $25 gift card from Advance Auto Parts.
The new business opened Thursday, March 17, in a 10,000 square foot space at 18026 Halsted Street. Advance Auto Parts will stock everything needed for cars and trucks. Store hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
After the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, store manager Mandy Lewis and district manager Deanna Layne gave Homewood Police Chief Denise McGrath a stack of gift cards to be handed out by police on patrol.
Layne said Advance Auto Parts has done the give-away in other states, but this was the first time the company has done it in Illinois.
“It’s something that we like to do to support the community and get their vehicles up and running properly and circumvent any problems,” by helping reduce the repair cost by $25, Layne said.
“It’s just our way of building the relationship with the community not only with the officials but also with people driving through town that have an issue,” such as a broken tail light.
McGrath said the police department was “very appreciate of their offer to provide the gift cards. It’s not only a good partnership between us and the business community, but gives us an opportunity to enhance the safety on the roadways and for the drivers.”
